The basic idea or theme that we see present in so-called ‘Creation Stories’ or ‘Creation Myths’ is that of ordering the Chaos. This is something we should understand, because all religious symbolism is a reflection of the work that each one of us must do if we wish to develop ourselves spiritually.

Gnosis takes the position that the necessary result of Free-Will is that each person can or cannot Rectify themselves, and specifically that they either will or will not. In our present state, we are ‘chaos’, that is: we are disordered, and this is why we need to “Order the Chaos”. What this means is to establish order within ourselves.

On a psychological level, this means confronting the desires, errors, defects, prejudices, etc., that we have established within. This is something we study in the Gnostic Psychology series. On a physical level, this is related to our actions, discipline, learning that the result of stillness & movement is momentum, etc.

We need an interior Order that reflects the equilibrium of the Universe. Our interior world and our exterior world must come to a place where they interact with each other in a special way. This new way of Being is related to what Gnosis called “Self-Consciousness” or “Self-Remembering”. It requires a complete change of our perspective of life. In general, we can say that this change of perspective is gradual, but is governed by our discipline and application of certain Universal Principles that are given in all authentic Religions and synthesized in the Symbolism of Alchemy.
