{"id":269,"date":"2016-12-16T22:55:03","date_gmt":"2016-12-17T05:55:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gnosisdenver.org\/?page_id=269"},"modified":"2025-06-20T05:54:22","modified_gmt":"2025-06-20T12:54:22","slug":"symbolism-free-will-and-faith","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/gnosticstudies.org\/index.php\/gnostic-kabalah\/introduction-to-gnostic-kabalah\/symbolism-free-will-and-faith\/","title":{"rendered":"Symbolism, Free-Will and Faith"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the previous classes (1-5), we have studied the Ray of Creation in Decent, and in the following classes (7-14) we will study the Ray of Creation in Ascent.  <\/p>\n<p>Today, after we discuss the Language of Symbolism (the Kabbalah or the \u2018Science of Signs\u2019), we are going to study a Historical or Scholarly Gnostic Text (the \u2018Hymn of the Pearl\u2019) and then we are going to study some of the foundations of the \u201cNew Science\u201d (the Great Work), as well as how to understand the concept of Free-Will (or the Reconciliation of Liberty &#038; Necessity).\n<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>What is Kabbalah and Why Study it?<\/h3>\n<p>In the Prologue to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lulu.com\/shop\/daath-gnosis-and-samael-aun-weor\/the-initiatic-path-in-the-arcana-of-the-tarot-and-kabalah-bilingual\/paperback\/product-23584350.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Tarot &#038; Kabbalah<\/em><\/a>, Samael Aun Weor says:<br \/>\n<dir>\u201cThe objective of studying the Kabbalah is to enable us in the Superior Worlds.\u201d<\/dir><\/p>\n<p>Krumm-Heller, in the final Lesson of his <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lulu.com\/shop\/daath-gnosis-and-arnoldo-krumm-heller\/gnostic-rosicrucian-kabalah\/paperback\/product-23526892.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Course of Ario-Egyptian Kabbalah<\/em><\/a>, tells us that:<\/p>\n<p><dir>\u201cKabbalah is \u2026 &#8216;the Science of correspondence&#8217;.  Better said, &#8216;the science which teaches us how all things of this plane or world correspond to others things <u>from the same womb<\/u> in the superior planes, most especially in the astral plane&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026 KABBALAH is the knowledge of the PHYSICAL, the superlative knowledge of the METAPHYSICAL and the knowledge of correspondence between the two.\u201d<\/dir><\/p>\n<p>And Eliphas Levi speaks on this subject as well:<\/p>\n<p><dir>\u201cIn matters of religion, the science of the Kabbalah makes doubt impossible, because it (by itself) reconciles reason with faith by showing that the universal doctrine (which is formulated differently but is in the end always and everywhere the same) is the purest expression of the aspirations of the human spirit, illuminated by a necessary faith. <\/p>\n<p>It helps one to comprehend the usefulness of religious practices (which fortify one\u2019s willpower by fixing the attention), and it equally throws superior light upon all the various forms of worship. <\/p>\n<p>It proves that <u>the most effective of all the forms of worship is whichever brings together (in some way) divinity and humanity, through effective signs, making humanity see, touch and in some way incorporate divinity into themselves<\/u>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Religion \u201c\u2026is high magic organized and regulated through symbolism and hierarchy. It is known that all of ancient Wisdom is in the Tarot, that <strong>all cosmic Laws of Nature are in the Tarot<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>The Tarot which is so sacred, so knowledgeable, has become a poker game among the different card games to entertain people. In this ineffable and absolute dialect, Moses received the Tablets of the Law.<\/p>\n<p>From Egypt and, everywhere, (when men sang with the joyous rhythm which directed their souls through dreams), this divine language emerges which was considered as a sacred dialect.<\/p>\n<p>All Initiates know this sacred dialect.  The mission of all Initiates is to trace, little by little, the path to where it can be found again.  All initiation is about the re-conquest of this supreme language.  <\/p>\n<p>\u2026In this language, the connection, the road and the communication with the invisible worlds is established. One of the things that is this brings up is the idea of Liberty and the question of Free-Will.  Because in Gnosis our Free-Will should be understood, and it should be understood in terms of its relationship to our Duty to God.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<a name=\"Duty\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>The Human Being&#8217;s Right to do his\/her Duty<\/h3>\n<p><dir>\u201c\u2026Voltaire\u2019s last words were this contradictory formula: GOD AND LIBERTY.<\/p>\n<p>God, that is to say, a supreme master: that which excludes every idea of liberty, as the school of Voltaire understood it.  And liberty, that is to say an absolute independence of any master, which excludes any idea of God.\u201d<\/dir><\/p>\n<p>But we must see things differently if we are going to comprehend this concept. Those who wish to annihilate the human verb blaspheme, like those who deny the divine verb.  <\/p>\n<p><strong>The autonomy of man is necessary to his divine binomial.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To really merit or deserve something from God, one must obey God.   But <strong>to obey God one must have an independent will<\/strong>.
